After six years on the run, one of Massachusetts' most wanted fugitives was captured in Ecuador.

Jude Demeis, a 55-year-old resident of Northampton, Massachusetts, who had been a fugitive for six years after facing charges related to child sexual abuse material, was captured in Ecuador and subsequently extradited back to Massachusetts.

The operation concludes a multi-year manhunt that began when Demeis became a fugitive in 2020. The successful extradition and apprehension were announced following coordination involving the Northwest District Attorney's Office.
