Trial for alleged builder of bomb in 1988 Lockerbie attack postponed by US judge days before start

A U.S. federal judge has postponed the trial of the man accused of building the bomb used in the 1988 Lockerbie attack, just days before proceedings were scheduled to begin. The decision halts the imminent prosecution in a case stemming from the downing of New York-bound Pan Am Flight 103.

The Boeing 747 exploded minutes after taking off from London on December 21, 1988. The disaster resulted in the deaths of all 259 people on board, which included 190 Americans, as well as 11 people on the ground in the Scottish town of Lockerbie.
