Constitutional Court validates use of polygraph in the police

The Constitutional Tribunal of the Dominican Republic has validated a provision within the Organic Law of the National Police, law 590-16. This ruling legally permits the use of polygraph tests to assess the psychophysical capacity of police agents.

Additionally, the court's validation reinforces the disciplinary framework surrounding the measure. Under the upheld statute, an unjustified refusal by an officer to submit to the polygraph examination is classified as a very grave administrative infraction.
