Costa Rican court accepts US guarantees to extradite “Macho Coca”

The Limón Penal Tribunal in Costa Rica has formally accepted diplomatic guarantees provided by the United States regarding the extradition of Gilbert Bell Fernández, known as “Macho Coca.” This judicial decision moves the legal process forward, placing Bell Fernández one step closer to being transferred to New York to face criminal charges.

As part of the agreement, the United States government has provided assurances that Bell Fernández will be prosecuted exclusively for the specific crimes cited in the extradition request. These guarantees were a required condition for the Costa Rican court to proceed with the extradition process.
