TSA brings back gate access for some people without plane tickets 25 years after 9/11

The Transportation Security Administration has launched a new program allowing individuals without plane tickets to access airport gate areas. This policy shift marks a significant change in airport security procedures, which for the past 25 years have restricted access to gate areas exclusively to ticketed passengers following the events of 9/11.

The initiative, which began at select airports, removes the long-standing security checkpoint barrier that previously separated travelers from friends and relatives accompanying them to the terminal. The program is currently being implemented at specific locations as part of a broader effort to adjust access policies for non-travelers.
