Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia aspire to a "new security architecture" with the Mecca agreement

On Monday, August 31, the defense and foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan convened in Istanbul for the inaugural meeting of the coordination committee for the Mecca defense pact, which was initially signed in early August as a deterrent measure.

During the meeting, Turkey stated that the trilateral bloc aims to establish a new regional security architecture and hopes to incorporate additional regional partners into the agreement.

In conjunction with the security discussions, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the international community, labeling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "genocidal" and a "threat to toda la humanidad" (threat to all humanity), and urged global action against him.
