UK, France, Canada to ban imports from Israeli settlements

On Tuesday, the governments of the United Kingdom, France, and Canada announced a joint ban on the import of goods originating from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The nations characterized the coordinated policy shift as a significant turning point in international efforts to facilitate a two-state solution to the regional conflict.

In their joint statement, the countries noted that the decision follows the anniversary of their formal recognition of the State of Palestine. While the coalition emphasized the diplomatic necessity of the move, a British minister further justified the policy by accusing Israel of ignoring the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians within the West Bank.
