Manuel de Jesús M.A., a former undersecretary of Administration and Finances for the Health Services of Oaxaca, has been arrested and formally bound over for trial. He faces charges of aggravated extortion.

According to the state's attorney general's office, the official allegedly used up to 35 different telephones to pressure his former romantic partner into resuming their relationship.
