A doctor with permanent total disability due to Covid claims compensation from the Health Service for not providing him with adequate protective equipment: he loses the case

A physician at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid has lost a legal claim for compensation against the health authorities. The doctor, who currently holds a status of absolute permanent disability, sought damages after contracting COVID-19 in March 2020 while treating patients, alleging that the institution failed to provide adequate personal protective equipment.

The medical professional suffered severe health consequences from the infection, requiring 55 days of treatment in an intensive care unit where he was intubated and placed on mechanical ventilation. The court ruling concludes the legal proceedings regarding his claim for institutional liability for the lack of protective measures during the early stages of the pandemic.
