UN peacekeeping chief in Lebanon says smooth transition is critical before pull-out

UNIFIL head Major General Diodato Abagnara has stated that a smooth transition is essential prior to the peacekeeping force's planned withdrawal from parts of Lebanon. The mission is currently coordinating with the United Nations country team to facilitate the continuity of humanitarian assistance in the regions slated for departure.

This initiative aims to prevent service gaps in areas where the peacekeeping presence will be reduced. The focus remains on maintaining stability and support for local populations throughout the transition process.
