UN report: Children in Gaza lack access to functioning schools A new mapping analysis by the United Nations Satellite Centre (Unosat) has found that Gaza’s temporary schools are failing to keep pace with demand, leaving hundreds of thousands of children without access to a functioning school. As of 30 June, only 613 temporary learning spaces had been established to serve an estimated 770,422 children across Gaza, with just 432,701 currently enrolled, the analysis found. North Gaza, Gaza City and parts of Khan Younis and Deir el-Balah were under the greatest strain, as dense populations of displaced Palestinians far exceeded the available classroom capacity.
