NewzOnce brought in, they often get locked up, have their identity documents seized, and forced through violence, threats and "debt bondage" to participate in the online scams. Migration authorities have said gangs are trafficking ever more people to East Asian online scam centers. The UN says some 300,000 people from more than 80 countries are currently being exploited and abused.
