NewzTEXAS, United States (CMC) — The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency says agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector in Texas have arrested a Cuban man previously convicted for sexual assault of a child. According to CBP, on August 19, agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station, apprehended a group of four men who had entered the United States illegally. One of the migrants was later identified as Alexis Suarez-Trejos, 52, an illegal migrant from Cuba.
Record checks revealed that Suarez-Trejos was convicted in 2001 in Nevada for sexual assault of a child under 14, CBP said. It said he was sentenced to 40 months incarceration and placed on the Nevada sex offender registry. CBP said Suarez-Trejos was “most recently removed from the United States on October 22, 2025”.
As a convicted felon, Suarez-Trejos faces a charge of “reentry after deportation”, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison. “Illegal aliens who prey on the children of our communities are an egregious threat,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony “Scott” Good. “I’m proud of our agents who, every day, stand ready to protect this nation from such dangers,” he added.
CBP said that, “Under the leadership of President Donald J Trump and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the dedicated men and women of US Customs and Border Protection, alongside our law enforcement partners, have worked tirelessly to make our communities safer.”
