US dropped 2,000 paracetamol mice on Guam to kill 3M invasive snakes in $8M operation

The United States government executed an $8 million operation on the island of Guam involving the deployment of 2,000 dead mice laced with paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen. The initiative aimed to reduce an estimated population of three million invasive brown tree snakes that had overrun the territory.

The brown tree snake invasion caused severe environmental damage across Guam, including frequent power outages on the island. In response to these disruptions and ecological threats, scientists developed the medicated bait method to target and eliminate the invasive reptile population.
