U.S. judge blocks Trump's move to limit duration of stay for foreign students, journalists: report

A U.S. federal judge in Boston has blocked the Trump administration from implementing a new rule that would have restricted the duration of stay for foreign students and journalists. The ruling, issued on Monday by U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor, prevents the Department of Homeland Security from enforcing a policy that required these visa holders to apply for extensions to remain in the country.

The court’s decision followed a challenge brought by a coalition against the administration's proposed limitations. In his ruling, Judge Saylor characterized the rationale provided by the Department of Homeland Security for the policy change as exceptionally weak.
