Jordan intercepts Iranian missiles as US and Saudi Arabia launch strikes against militias in Iraq

Jordan’s military reported that its air defenses intercepted five missiles launched from Iran early Wednesday. This action followed a separate engagement in which the United States military successfully neutralized an Iranian missile barrage aimed at American forces stationed in the Middle East. Concurrently, the United States and Saudi Arabia have launched strikes against militias operating in Iraq.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed the missile attacks, characterizing them as a response to aggressive actions by the United States. This event marks Tehran’s first regional strike following a recent pause in hostilities. According to officials, the United States has stated that these Iranian actions are an attempt to derail ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
