Utah recycled 15,000 cubic yards of old highway concrete for new interchanges

Utah transportation officials recently recycled 15,000 cubic yards of concrete during the reconstruction of the Bangerter Highway. The old highway material was crushed directly on-site and repurposed to serve as the structural road base for new highway interchanges.

This initiative was implemented to improve project efficiency by reducing the need for waste disposal and minimizing the number of truck journeys required to transport materials. By processing the concrete at the construction site, the project lowered its environmental impact and logistical demands.
