Vancouver Island park closed following black bear attack

Stoney Hill Regional Park, located east of Duncan on Vancouver Island, has been closed following a black bear attack. B.C. Conservation Officers reported that the incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday morning.

The victim, a woman, was hiking in the park with her dogs off-leash at the time of the attack. Authorities subsequently restricted public access to the area to address the wildlife safety hazard.
