Investigators in Rome are examining the mobile phone of a 13-year-old boy in connection with the stabbing of a female professor, as authorities search for potential instigators or accomplices behind the attack.

In addition to the boy's device, checks are also being conducted on the mobile phone belonging to the suspect's mother. Authorities have focused part of their inquiry on a credit card used to purchase the knives involved in the incident.
