The Vice-President of the European Commission does not see a global agreement to curb the advance of artificial intelligence as realistic.

Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security, and Democracy, stated that achieving a global agreement among major powers to slow down the development of artificial intelligence is unrealistic.

Speaking in Strasbourg, France, on September 15, the European official addressed the prospects of international cooperation regarding the regulation and pacing of AI advancement, pouring cold water on the possibility of a worldwide pact to curb its rapid progress.
