Vladimir Cerrón emerges from hiding and reappears in public: “I was always in Peru”

Vladimir Cerrón, leader of the Marxist party Perú Libre and a former presidential candidate, ended nearly three years in hiding by reappearing in public in Peru on Thursday, August 13. His emergence followed the recent annulment of a judicial preventive prison order that had kept him in clandestinity.

Upon his return to the public eye, Cerrón addressed his whereabouts during the period he was a fugitive, stating, “I have always remained in Peruvian territory, as I have stated.” The texts note that his prolonged disappearance had previously left his whereabouts unknown for nearly three years.
