KINGSTON, Jamaica β€” A four-year manhunt for a Clarendon man wanted for murder has ended following an intelligence-led operation in Portland over the weekend. Police said 43-year-old Leighton Delahaye, of James Hill had been evading law enforcement for four years while allegedly posing as a taxi operator in Portland. He was captured on Sunday in Boundbrook, Port Antonio, after a team of police officers, acting on intelligence, carried out a targeted operation in the community.

Delahaye was wanted by the St Andrew Central police in connection with the April 2022 murder of 29-year-old British national Safia Davy on Hagley Park Road, St Andrew. Davy's body was discovered by a property manager at a residence she was occupying on Grayden Avenue, Kingston 10, in April 2022. Delahaye is expected to be handed over to detectives in the St Andrew Central Division and formally charged.

The Portland police said the operation demonstrates their continued commitment to proactive policing and to pursuing individuals involved in criminal activity.
