A wanted suspect allegedly involved in extortion and the murders of seven people was killed, while three other suspects were injured in separate alleged police encounters involving the Crime Control Department (CCD) and district police in Faisalabad, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the first encounter took place near Paharang Bridge in the Chak Jhumra area, where CCD teams had set up a checkpoint as part of a drive to arrest proclaimed offenders. Police said a team led by CCD Faisalabad Region officers, acting on the directions of SSP Waseem Riaz, signalled four men riding motorcycles to stop.

The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory firing. During the exchange, one of the suspects, identified as Tauqeer alias Dhanna, son of Tufail, sustained fatal injuries allegedly caused by gunfire from his own accomplices, police claimed. According to police, Tauqeer was a proclaimed offender wanted in multiple cases, including extortion, murder and attempted murder.

Investigators said he was accused of killing five people in a shooting incident in Chak No. 30-GB within the jurisdiction of Satyana police station.
