WhatsApp, a Meta-owned application, is reportedly planning to expand its digital payment functionality to Spain, allowing users to add bank cards to their accounts and transfer money instantly to saved contacts. This development is part of a broader platform update that also introduces new privacy and security features.

In addition to the planned peer-to-peer payment expansion, the messaging service is integrating multiple tools designed to protect user privacy and enhance control. These security measures include the implementation of passkeys (llaves de acceso) to prevent unauthorized access to chats by intruders, alongside features to identify and manage spam calls.
