A great white shark pulled a lifeguard underwater at a Maine beach on Saturday, prompting warnings from local public safety officials. A lifeguard at Scarborough Beach State Park in Maine was pulled underwater by a shark Saturday afternoon after it grabbed his rescue torpedo, according to Scarborough police.The lifeguard was using torpedo in the water when a white shark got ahold of the device and pulled him approximately 6 feet below the surface, police said in a press release. The lifeguard soon freed himself from the torpedo’s arm straps and swam safely back to shore.
