NewzST JAMES, Jamaica – Two middle-aged women have been charged by police after allegedly using an ATM card to withdraw funds from a man’s account after he asked for assistance. Thirty-year-old Carlisha Dixon and 43-year-old Tania Simms both of Copperwood, in St James, have been charged with unauthorised access to computer data, conspiracy to defraud, possession of identity information, unlawfully making data available for the commission of an offence, larceny from the dwelling, and simple larceny (11 counts), following an incident in the parish between Monday, March 23, and Monday, March 30. Reports from the Cambridge police are that a man sought assistance from Simms to withdraw money from an ATM.
Sometime later in March, the complainant was informed that multiple withdrawals had been made from his bank account over several days, totalling approximately $300,000. A report was made to the police, and following further investigations, it was established that Simms had allegedly given the complainant’s bank card to Dixon to withdraw money from the account. Dixon and Simms were arrested and taken into custody.
They were subsequently charged following question-and-answer sessions. Their court date is being finalised.
