The Yemeni army bombed new Houthi positions after their advance on the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait

The internationally recognized government of Yemen launched a series of airstrikes on Tuesday targeting Houthi rebel positions, troop concentrations, and supply routes in the provinces of Marib and Taiz. This military offensive follows recent government advancements near the Bab el Mandeb strait, a critical maritime chokepoint for international trade.

Concurrently, the Yemeni government has appealed to the United Nations Security Council to intervene in the region. Officials are urging the international community to treat the security of the Bab el Mandeb strait as a shared responsibility, warning that the Houthi rebels intend to utilize the strategic passage as a tool for geopolitical leverage and blackmail.
