YIARI: Repeated forest and land fires in Ketapang trigger orangutan-resident conflict

Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia (YIARI) reports that recurring forest and land fires in Ketapang have triggered direct conflicts between local residents and orangutans.

The ongoing fires have severely impacted the natural habitat of the primates, forcing them to move outside forest areas and into closer proximity with human settlements in search of food and shelter.
