More than half of Mexican workers lack social security, confirms INEGI

According to data from INEGI's National Occupation and Employment Survey (ENOE) for July 2026, Mexico's economically active population (PEA) reached a historic high of 62.6 million people. Despite this growth in the labor force, the official figures reveal significant structural challenges within the country's employment sector.

Specifically, the survey confirms that more than half of all Mexican workers currently lack access to social security. This dynamic highlights a divided labor market characterized by high overall participation alongside widespread precarious employment conditions.
