Zapatero asks the Criminal Chamber of the National Court to stop Judge Calama's "license to plunder" and annul the investigation into his business dealings in Bolivia

Former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has formally petitioned the Criminal Chamber of the Audiencia Nacional to halt and annul an ongoing investigation concerning his business activities and mediation efforts in Bolivia. Zapatero's legal defense argues that the presiding magistrate, Judge Calama, and the police investigative unit, the UDEF, overstepped their boundaries.

Specifically, the former prime minister is seeking to remove a UDEF report from the proceedings that scrutinizes a 200,000-euro payment he received for facilitating arrangements with Bolivian authorities. Zapatero's legal team contends that this financial transaction regarding the Plus Ultra case falls outside the legitimate scope of the current investigation, characterizing the judicial actions as an unwarranted overreach.
