Separately, authorities in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria reported on the same day that a human trafficking organization based in Mauritania charged Bangladeshi citizens 13,000 euros per person for passage to Europe. These migrants were ultimately transported in precarious vessels, such as cayucos or motorboats, rather than the promised secure transit.
