70 years after South Africa’s women challenged apartheid, some say their freedom isn’t complete

South Africa is commemorating the 70th anniversary of the historic Women's March of 1956. On this day, approximately 20,000 women of all races marched to the administrative capital of Pretoria to protest apartheid-era laws that forced Black women to carry passes restricting their movement.

Despite the legacy of this monumental resistance, seventy years later, some individuals assert that the freedom achieved for South African women remains incomplete.
