77-year-old man put to death in Florida, 16th person to be executed in the state this year

On Tuesday, 77-year-old Curtis Wilkie Beasley was executed in Florida following the United States Supreme Court's decision to decline intervention in his case.

Beasley received the death penalty for his conviction in the 1995 killing of Carolyn Monfort, which involved a deadly hammer attack.

His execution marks the 16th time an individual has been put to death in the state of Florida during the current year.
