Afghanistan says 28 dead fighters came from Pakistan as Islamabad denies ties

Afghanistan’s defense ministry reported that its forces killed 28 fighters and wounded 32 in the eastern province of Nuristan on Sunday. According to Afghan officials, the group, which allegedly included Islamic State militants, crossed into Afghanistan from Pakistan. The ministry further claimed that Pakistani militias provided support to the fighters involved in the incursion.

In response, Islamabad has denied any ties to the militants. The incident follows reports of Pakistan launching airstrikes inside Afghan territory, which Pakistan stated were intended to target militant groups.
