Meta will not implement the new child safety measures outside the United States at this time.

Meta has announced it will not implement new security measures for minors outside of the United States for the time being. The decision follows an agreement reached on Wednesday between the company and a group of U.S. attorneys general to avoid a trial concerning the addictive design of its social media platforms.

Under the terms of the agreement, Meta has committed to paying approximately 15.4 billion. The legal settlement and subsequent policy rollouts remain focused primarily on the United States, leaving the newly announced youth safety protections unapplied internationally for now.
