According to 2025 census data, this group now represents 14.8% of the country's total population. Separately, in South Sudan, intercommunal violence resulted in at least 49 deaths and 33 injuries on August 27. The armed attacks targeted a livestock camp and a village in the northwestern state of Warrap, marking another incident in a series of ongoing tribal conflicts within the region.
