On October 9, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and five other nations issued a joint statement rejecting the sanctions imposed by the United States against the International Criminal Court (CPI). The announcement of these diplomatic measures coincided with the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to a former judge of the court.
