NewzAn Illinois State Police spokesman, Trooper Ryan Wagand, confirmed the man's death Friday but did not release his name or age. The man was spotted on a roof, pacing and talking loudly in the 2100 block of Edison Avenue. Police from Granite City and the Madison County Sheriff's Office shot him when, they say, he refused to put his weapon down.
