A drug ring that tried to smuggle 5 tons of cocaine by climbing a ship on the high seas has been busted.

Spanish, British, and Portuguese police have successfully dismantled an international criminal network that attempted to smuggle approximately 5 tons of cocaine into Spain. The operation, announced in Madrid on August 6, targeted a trafficking scheme utilizing container ships.

The organization employed a specific maritime smuggling technique known as "mico," which involves scaling a moving cargo vessel in the open sea to illicitly load narcotics onto the ship.
