Young people add rhythm to the unloading of donations in Chocó: ‘Los Bárbaros’ dance and sing to make the aid go viral

Following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake on August 10, 2026, which resulted in 289 fatalities and the destruction of over 26,000 homes in Chocó, humanitarian relief efforts faced both uplifting community mobilization and severe security threats. In one instance, a group of young people known as 'Los Bárbaros' used dance and song while unloading donations to generate viral visibility for the aid distribution.

However, the delivery of humanitarian assistance encountered logistical violence on the night of August 15, 2026. A convoy of trucks transporting aid from the Valle de Aburrá to Chocó was targeted in an armed attack by assailants on motorcycles in Antioquia during its transit.
