The athlete, who previously represented Canada’s Olympic team, will now compete for Greece in international competitions. Olympic rings champion Lefteris Petrounias announced the news in a social media post, welcoming Chronopoulos to the national squad and describing his arrival as an important addition as Greece prepares for major international events and the road to the Olympic Games.

Serving as the athletes’ representative, Petrounias wished Chronopoulos good health, strength and success in the challenges ahead, beginning with the European Championships, followed by the Mediterranean Games and the World Championships. Petrounias also thanked the officials and institutions that helped complete the transfer process.
