Fedea warns that the poverty rate in Spain would skyrocket to 23.5% including the cost of housing

A report from the Spanish foundation Fedea indicates that Spain's poverty rate would rise to 23.5% if housing costs were factored into standard income metrics. The analysis highlights that approximately 1.95 million people in Spain currently exist in a state of 'hidden poverty.'

These individuals are not classified as poor under conventional disposable income criteria but fall below the poverty threshold once housing expenses are deducted. The findings suggest that current poverty measurements significantly underrepresent the financial vulnerability of a large segment of the population.
