Neiba Correction and Rehabilitation Center begins construction

The Dominican government initiated the construction of the new Centro de Corrección y Rehabilitación (CCR) in Neiba on Friday. The project is designed to replace the municipality's existing public jail, addressing severe overcrowding issues at the legacy facility.

Originally built with a capacity to house approximately 70 inmates, the current public jail in Neiba is severely over capacity, holding more than 270 individuals. The new correctional facility aims to provide a more suitable and modern infrastructure to manage the local inmate population safely.
