China says still investigating cause of deadly cargo ship fire

A fire aboard a foreign-flagged cargo ship at a shipyard in Qingdao, China, resulted in the deaths of 25 people on Thursday. Chinese authorities confirmed on Friday that an investigation into the cause of the incident is currently underway.

In addition to the fatalities, 17 people were evacuated from the vessel, including five individuals who sustained injuries during the blaze. State media reports indicate that emergency response efforts, including the deployment of fire engines, were conducted at the shipyard site.
