Congo’s Ebola burial teams battle community anger, fatigue and fear of infection

In Ituri, the epicenter of history's deadliest Ebola outbreak in Congo, burial teams led by figures such as Yuma Adolphe are tasked with conducting safe and dignified burials for victims of the virus. Operating on an almost daily basis, these workers perform essential duties that include digging graves and preparing bodies.

However, the teams face significant operational challenges in the field. They must constantly navigate intense community anger, widespread fatigue, and pervasive fear of infection among the local population while carrying out their critical public health responsibilities.
