Zimbabwe: Forestry Commission Impounds 20 Trucks, Seizes 4 000 Bags of Charcoal in Harare Sweep to Nip Deforestation

In August 2026, the Zimbabwe Forestry Commission conducted a major enforcement operation in the Harare Metropolitan Province to combat illegal forest trade. The sweep resulted in the impounding of 20 trucks and the seizure of 4,000 bags of charcoal along with 300 cubic metres of firewood. The initiative, referred to as the “No To Indigenous Firewood” campaign, aims to curb deforestation activities within the region.

The operation represents a significant regulatory effort to address the unauthorized harvesting and distribution of wood products.
