Coroner finds shark control measures ‘appropriate’ after teen killed

Seventeen-year-old Charlize Zmuda was fatally attacked by a bull shark while swimming at Woorim Beach on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane, in February of last year. Following an investigation into the incident, the coroner has determined that existing shark control measures in the area were appropriate.

Legal authorities have concluded that no further formal inquest is required regarding the circumstances of the teenager's death. The findings affirm the adequacy of current safety protocols implemented at the beach.
