Cyclospora outbreaks with no confirmed sources grow: FDA

The Food and Drug Administration reports a growing number of cyclospora outbreaks in the United States that currently lack confirmed sources. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 14,000 cases of the illness have been confirmed nationwide.

This year's figures represent a dramatic increase compared to the previous year, during which the U.S. recorded fewer than 2,000 confirmed cases. Public health officials continue to investigate the outbreaks as the source of the widespread infections remains unidentified.
