Drug seizures increased 34% in the first half of 2026

During the first half of 2026, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) in the Dominican Republic seized a total of 24,139.53 kilograms of drugs between January and June. This volume marks a 33.76 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025, during which 18,047.61 kilograms were confiscated.

The year-over-year rise represents an additional 6,091 kilograms of drugs intercepted by authorities during the first six months of the year, highlighting a significant escalation in the total volume of narcotics removed from circulation by the agency.
