Delhi building collapse: Owner knew base was weak, built 4 additional floors, say cops

Delhi police have apprehended a labour contractor supervising a collapsed student hostel after investigations revealed the building owner knowingly compromised the structure's foundation. According to police statements, the owner added four additional floors to a base that was already known to be weak.

Mahesh Gupta managed the student accommodation facility on behalf of his parents, Hariram and Urmila, who owned the property. The building had subsequently been leased to PG operators before the fatal structural failure occurred.
